I’m a digital identity expert based in the UK. With over seven years’ experience across academic, industry and government roles, I’m committed to making secure and private digital verification technologies a success.

Since late 2026, I’ve been Select ID’s Product and Strategy Director. I help our network of identity service providers makes it easy for people to prove who they are through a reusable ID. This means people need only confirm who they are once, before using that identity repeatedly across different services.

2023-2026: Identity Policy Link to heading

At the Cabinet Office, I led teams setting technical policy for the national digital ID system as the Head of Operational Policy and Product Strategy. Working closely with Ministers, delivery partners in other government departments, and key stakeholders in the private and third sectors, I was responsible for ensuring we created a useful, inclusive and trusted solution. This included delivering the public consultation on digital ID, which launched in March 2026, and readying legislation for the programme – alongside leading on product design and development.

Prior to this role, I led the development of the UK’s digital identity and attributes trust framework, managing the team creating effective ‘rules of the road’ for the country’s digital identity ecosystem. I was primarily responsible for making the trust framework fully operational, publishing the gamma (0.4) publication in November 2024 and completing much of the 1.0 publication’s development before moving on. This included overhauling Good Practice Guides (GPGs) 44 and 45. Throughout, I pushed my team to work radically in the open, drawing on expertise from the market, academia, regulators, and the third sector thanks to my strong ability to build trusted relationships.

I’m also a recovering political philosopher. In late-2024, I completed my DPhil (PhD) at the Oxford Internet Institute and Balliol College. This investigated the ethical, social, and political issues surrounding British digital identity systems. My doctoral research was fully-funded through the ESRC’s Grand Union DTP. I also hold an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and a BA in Philosophy from Durham University – which included a year studying abroad at the University of Hong Kong.

I have previously consulted for various identity-related organisations, and won a 2023 Kim Cameron Award from the OIDF. I’ve provided daily media monitoring briefs for the Open Identity Exchange, developed a pan-African digital identity trust framework for Smart Africa, and produced marketing videos for Mvine Ltd. that were used in pitches to clients including the NHS, BT and TfL.
